On Tuesday 26th May, General Manager Hans Olbertz welcomed His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain to Emirates Palace to officially open the Emirati and Spanish Business Forum.
‘We were honoured and thrilled to welcome King Juan Carlos along with his delegation to Kempinski’s renowned Emirates Palace and we were privileged to be the location of the Emirati and Spanish Business Forum, supporting the collective aim to project Spain as a strong Foreign Investor,’ Hans Olbertz, General Manager, Emirates Palace.
The Forum’s official opening ceremony was also graced by Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Miguel Angel Moratinos, Spanish Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Miguel Sebastian, UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Chairman of UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Salah Al Shamsi, a number of top economic officials of the two countries and over 500 CEOs and Senior Executives of UAE and Spanish companies.
UAE is a key regional player, an economic partner which offers full potential for development, especially in sectors where the Spanish companies are in an advanced stage of international expertise.
The Emirati and Spanish Business Forum was organised and coordinated by the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain, based in the UAE, the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Spanish Confederation of Entrepreneurial Organisations, together with important Emirati Institutions.

Emirates Palace Scores another Concert Coup with Bon Jovi
Over 18,000 fans turned out at Kempinski’s iconic Emirates Palace on May 20th, 2008 to watch veteran rock group Bon Jovi strut their stuff on a stage set up in the stunning resort grounds. The legendary performers enthralled the crowd, who danced and sang along with renditions of all-time greatest hits from their 25 year musical career. The concert was the latest in a series of big name international acts to play in the palace grounds, which has become a preferred venue for events in the capital.
